Most of you have probably heard of vBulletin, FuseTalk, and phpBB. The two former are quality products but are costly. phpBB is a nice implementation of a bulletin board in php, and is pretty easy to set up. I use phpBB for the current forums, however, there will be some changes coming by the end of 2011:
Railboards. A new forum system written using Ruby-on-Rails, and served on top of nginx/Apache using Phusion Passenger. It will incorporate all the major features found in other boards, but will be FREE. Not just monetarily, but also the other kind of FREE SOFTWARE. It will be available on github.com once the code is sufficiently stable and usable. It is a feature of the upcoming ticketing/bug-tracker system we are developing and we decided to develop and package it separately.
This blog has been repurposed to Panjunction Web Solutions.
Originally, my private blog, now it has been edited. You can go look at the old archives in Google caching, but it was back when I was first getting started. The video is from my second tech job, before I grew up.
Now there’s new aspirations. We have some new software coming, including a ticketing system that incorporates all features I looked for in a ticketing system. We will hopefully have a larger infrastructure to handle bug notifications, and direct contact with our users.
In addition, Panjunction Web Solutions has a number of open-source projects currently in development.
These include:
rflot - a rubygem utilizing the jQuery graphing library ‘flot’.
gitties - (pronounced git-ties), it is a web front-end for gitolite
racktools - CLI utilities for managing RackSpace Cloud services
simple-ping - a simple rubygem for pinging systems.
